Slow

This is far from an original idea. However, this is the first time I have noticed a turtle with algae on it. It makes this turtle look like he has moss growing on him. With that in mind he must be slower than most. It is good camouflage though.

In the second shot, the alligator did not move very fast either. It was a warm day so I do not blame them.

  2. Don't think I would want to be close to the alligator no matter how slow he was. Great capture!

  5. The turtle almost looks like he's walking on water, that's some thick green soup they're in.

  6. Perfect for slow. Do alligators eat turtles?

  7. I agree with Jacki - the turtle looks like he's walking on water. And seeing alligators that close would freak me out

  8. That's quite the turtle you found. I'd sure hate to have to watch for gators when taking photos!

  9. At 365redux, One time in Florida I witnessed an alligator eating a turtle. But I think this alligator was not hungry or this turtle might be too large in proportion to the alligator.

Lois and Gisele, I took the second picture with the 55-250mm zoom at 250 so I was not as close as it seems.

Gerberbaby1, As long as people do not feed the alligators or antagonize them, they usually will not come after you. Many times in Florida at a city park I would surprise myself by walking around a corner and see one on my trail. But they always went into the water and never bothered me. Prior to living in their habitat, I would have never guessed that I could keep my cool around them. Though no one should purposely put themselves in danger by seeing how close they can get to an alligator or going into the water with them.
